Sample Project: PennDOT Transportation Performance Report

Purpose: To collect and communicate concise data to indicate trends in various facets of Pennsylvania’s transportation performance—safety, mobility, preservation, accountability, and funding. PennDOT’s performance reporting helps quantify transportation infrastructure needs and demonstrate fiscal accountability.

Client Priorities: Brevity, visual appeal, easy to read at a glance.

Audience: Elected officials, PennDOT employees, and the general public.

Teaming and Role: Wordsworth Communications served as a DBE subconsultant to Gannett Fleming under an on-call contract with the Pennsylvania Transportation Advisory Committee (TAC). The TAC conducts special studies on behalf of the State Transportation Commission, which serves as a board of directors for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. For this assignment, Julie Johnson worked closely with the Gannett Fleming work order manager and technical leads.

Services: Wordsworth Communications participated in brainstorming on document content, organization, and look and feel; edited draft material to be clear, consistent, and concise; produced visually appealing charts based on raw data provided by technical leads; created draft and revised document designs; completed document layout and proofreading; and supported internal and external reviews and iterations.
